

Dolly Raper Teel was born August 7, 1919 in Wilson County and died after a lengthy illness on November 22, 2011. After graduating from high school, she attended the Medical College of Richmond, VA and the Carolina General Hospital School of Nursing in Wilson where she received her R.N. degree. She faithfully served in the Wilson medical community by working with Dr. William Blackshear and Dr. Claude Simons. Other community commitments included First Christian Church of Wilson, the Patriots Drum and Bugle Corps parents association, and she hosted many gatherings of her local nursing alumni association and church women’s circles.
She is survived by son, John R. Teel of Apex; grandson, Brooks A. Teel of Apex; ex-daughter-in-law, Sherley T. Teel of Cary; nieces, Jane Raper Weeks of Johnston County, Vickie Teel Hester of Brown Summit, Medrithe Teel of Lake Worth, FL; nephews, William Raper of Tarboro and Mark Teel of Raleigh; as well as in-laws, Lorraine Kost Teel or Lake Worth, FL, Fletcher and Nina Teel of Greensboro, Frances Teel of Raleigh, and Lucille Tedder Raper of Wilson.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John E. Teel; brother, Donnell Raper of Lucama; and sister, Gertrude Pate of Kenly.
The family will receive friends at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary on Sunday, November 27, 2011 from 7-9PM. A funeral service will be held Monday, November 28, 2011 at 11AM at Christ Episcopal Church in Raleigh followed by a graveside service at Maplewood Cemetery in Wilson at 1PM.
