

Edith was a charter member of Cary Church of God and found joy helping and ministering to those in need in her community. She loved her three children and her friends from church.
Edith retired as Deputy Clerk with Wake County Register of Deeds after 29 years of employment.
She is survived by her daughters, Dianne Carter Mays and husband Allan, of Richmond, VA and Pamela Carter Packer and husband John , of Atlanta, GA; son, Kelly B. Carter, of San Antonio, TX; sisters, Elsie Bennett Tart, of Dunn and Rebecca Bennett Fountain and husband Williaml, of Vero Beach, FL; grandchildren, Jeffrey and Julia Packer; step-grandchild, Wayne Packer and wife, Jessica and their son Bryce, all of Atlanta, GA; nephew, Robert Tart and wife Gail, of Wallace, NC; and by her cherished great and great-great nieces and nephews and other family and friends. Edith was preceded in death by a niece, Myra Hope Tart Walker.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 from 10-11 AM at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home (200 SE Maynard Road in Cary), with funeral services to begin at 11 AM in the funeral home chapel. Private Graveside Services will be held at Harnett Memorial Park in Lillington, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cary Church of God or a charity of your choice.
