He was born on August 21, 1931, in Hendersonville, NC. He was a proud graduate from N.C. State University, and was a sales representative for industrial recycling equipment.
Ed was preceded in death by his father, James Speed Massenburg Sr; mother, Ellen Seawell Massenburg; brother, James Speed Massenburg Jr; and sister, Johnsye Massenburg.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Ellen; son, Sam P. Massenburg and wife Renea; daughter, Beth M. Marhelko and husband Mike; granddaughter, Sara Hendrick and husband Aaron; grandson, Daniel Marhelko; loving family members including cousins, nieces, nephew and sister in law.
Ed's family would like to thank his amazing team of doctors and most especially his nurses on 4 East at Rex Hospital.
