

Edward was born November 7th, 1932, in Chicago Illinois. He graduated from Tilden Technical High School and went on to attain electrical certification from Washburn Trade School before enlisting in the Marines in 1950. He is a Veteran of the Korean War.
Following his duty in the Korean war, Edward came home and married Mary Dunn of Chicago Illinois. Together they had five children, Michael, Edward Jr, Peggy, MaryBeth and Carol. They raised their family in Westmont Illinois where Edward was an active participant in the town and President of the local Park District.
Edward retired in Florida after a long and established career as an electrician in Chicago serving as superintendent on Water Tower Place as well as dozens of other Chicago landmarks. After his wife died in 2000, he moved to Morrisville North Carolina and became an active member of the “Nooners Golf” within Preston Country Club. His “Shoot his Age” motto was a goal he strived for everyday on the golf course.
Edward loved to fish and spend time at the lake, but most of all he loved to spend time with his family. From Hurricane hockey games and Duke Basketball to going to his grandchildren’s activities, family always came first. His legacy will always be his unending devotion to his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Mecler and his sister, Louise Bailey. He is survived by his five children, eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren with number nine on the way.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 13th, at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 Southeast Maynard Road Home, Cary NC, beginning at 3 p.m. A prayer service will take place at 6:30 p.m. His final resting place will be on Saturday, September 18th, in Hillsboro Memorial Cemetery, Brandon, Florida. Time to be determined.
