Edyth Carwile Dejarnette, 93, passed away on April 30, 2026. Born May 24, 1932, Edyth was raised at her childhood home in Naruna, Virginia, the daughter of the late Asa Carwile and Sarah Strong Carwile.
Edyth graduated from William Campbell High School and later attended business school in Lynchburg, Virginia. In 1954, she moved to Cary, North Carolina, where she became a hairstylist, serving others with a steady devotion and a genuinely caring spirit.
Edyth was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Wayland Dejarnette; five brothers; and four sisters. She is survived by her son, Wayland Dejarnette, Jr. (Mary); daughter, Vicky Grissom (Steve); nine grandchildren; and twenty-two great grandchildren.
Edyth’s life was marked by a kind heart and a compassionate faith. Her desire was to please the Lord and for others to know Jesus and His love. Known as a prayer warrior, she leaves a legacy of devotion that will be remembered with gratitude and deep respect.
A private family graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery in Cary, NC.
