With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for her life, our family shares that Evelyn Yates Holland, born May 20, 1937, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025, at the age of 88. She left this world surrounded by love and held firmly in the strong, steady faith that guided her throughout her long and beautiful life.
Evelyn was a devoted and godly Christian woman whose quiet strength, compassion, and unwavering trust in the Lord touched everyone who knew her. A dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Cary, she lived out her faith through kindness, generosity, prayer, and a gentle spirit that reflected Christ’s love in all she did.
Born in the mountains of Ashe County, North Carolina, Evelyn grew up in a close-knit family of five siblings. She was preceded in death by three of them and is survived by her beloved sister, Clara Rogers of Statesville, NC. Her mountain upbringing shaped her warmth, resilience, and deep appreciation for the simple blessings of life.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Robert Holland, with whom she shared a life of love, faith, and steady partnership. Their marriage was a true testament to commitment and God’s sustaining grace.
Her greatest joy in life was her family. Evelyn is survived by her children:
• Bonita Denise Holland
• Robert Nelson Holland and his wife Kay Holland
• Jennifer Lynn Holland Murphy and her husband Philip Murphy
She was blessed with four grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life:
• Lauren Holland, married to Connor Rechtin
• Cade Murphy
• Tristan Murphy, married to Olivia Murphy
• Lauch Murphy
Evelyn loved her family fiercely—praying for them daily, encouraging them with her gentle wisdom, and celebrating each stage of their lives with joy. She cherished her quiet mornings with scripture, conversations filled with warmth, and every opportunity to share love through simple, thoughtful acts of kindness.
Though our hearts ache at her passing, we take comfort in knowing that Evelyn is now at peace—reunited with her husband, her siblings, and welcomed into the presence of her Savior. Her legacy of faith, love, and grace will continue to shine through all whose lives she touched.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held early in the new year.
Evelyn is deeply loved and will be missed beyond measure.
