Francis was born November 13, 1935 in Rabbit Lake in the province of Saskatchewan Canada to the late Gerhard Giesbrecht and Anna Boschmann Giesbrecht. He was a Professor of Statistics at North Carolina State University.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathryn Marie Giesbrecht.
Francis is survived by his wife of 53 years, Margaret Louise Friesen Giesbrecht; daughter, Karent Lynn Reed and her husband, Steve; brother, John Giesbrecht; sister, Marie G. Ault and her husband, Geoff; and two grandchildren, Nicholas and Natasha.
A memorial service will be held 2pm Sunday, August 11, 2013 at Cary Presbyterian Church, 614 Griffis Street, Cary, NC 27511. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
