He put the class in classic country music one hell of a d.j.  and a dam good singer. If any one has a copy of his song I would love to hear them please sent to my email address I will be more then happy  buy them I only have one song of his it call arms of a fool.

We met Fred & Deb after we started attending Hope. We had both come from central New York & Fred had been a country DJ at a station a few miles from our home. Several years later, they joined our small group & we came to know them & their hearts. Fred used to say "we are weak people" and while I tend to agree, we found that Fred was anything but weak. He was, to this day, so grateful for the life changing gift of his salvation almost 40 years ago. He proudly proclaimed the exact date & time!  When we had a social, Fred would bring his guitar and even during times when his health was failing, his voice was strong and he was young again as he sang to us!  What a beautiful gift!  Fred was passionate about Jesus, Hope Community Church, his family, music & his politics. Thankfully, we agreed on all of those. Fred was known to recruit for Hope in the checkout line at Harris Teeter and Chick FilA to name a few of many places. Well done, Fred. Now you can concentrate on the family & friends you have reunited with, singing for Jesus, & watching over us all!  We miss you already! Cliff & I send our love & condolences to Deb & all his wonderful family.

I remember listening to Fred on WSCP radio back in the late 1980's.  My late husband Rodney Salisbury and I loved talking to Fred and listening to him on the radio.

Deb and family - I am SO sorry to hear of Fred's passing! He was such a wonderful and kind person and I still treasure all the memories we all had with him in our small group all those years. I especially loved his singing those great old hymns and playing his guitar! He was such a Godly man and along with the other men in our group meant so much to me when I needed the perspective of strong and Godly men during some of my rough times. My mother and I were just speaking about him recently as Mom told me that she no longer sees Deb at the Harris Teeter anymore. The whole family is in my prayers - I no longer live up there in Cary - having moved down to Kure Beach back in May. I will tell Mom as well and she will be praying for you all. Love, Moira Wilmers

Don "Farmer Brown"'s family send their condolences.

I sure am going to miss that fabulous smile and big hug that he always had for me!  Fred was always so friendly and outgoing. He was the kind of person that you just loved right away. He loved the Lord and it showed in his entire presence. Debbie, Craig, and Josh--he is with Dan now praising our Heavenly Father. There is no pain and sorrow. I just know that during the Phil Wickham concert, we will feel their presence. I just know the Lord is going to fill that place with His spirit. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I'm sending hugs your way. Love you all!

Fred loved country music. I shared many good times in the music busines with him. I will miss our once a month phone calls talking about old times and our Lord. Our prayers are with the family.

I delighted in Fred. I have never met anyone nicer, more friendly or more outgoing then Fred. He was an ever cheerful person. I will dearly miss him. My heart is saddened by his passing, but I delight that he is in heaven with his Lord and Savior. Heaven is indeed a littler brighter and more cheerful with Fred Cantey there! My deepest condolence to his family.

I never seen anyone care more about other peoples souls like you did. You noticed when someone went out of there way to do something nice and from your heart you truelly appreciated it i have done alot of messing up in my life. But you never acted ashamed of me you tell me son you know what i should do and i knew when i was doing wrong many times not followig my conscience your heart was amazing i realized more than ever how much of a sinner i am with the help from jesus you have made many of people cross paths with jesus god i hope the angels know what they are getting with you i love you daddy sure would love to hear the four footed mule with a angel choir behind you will you hi five jesus tell him thaks for always being there I love you daddy so much see you soon
