I am so sorry to learn of Gary's passing.
Although I remember Gary's brothers Dave and Chuck, it was Gary that I became friends with in the 50's.
It has been only the last couple years that we have reconnected by way of Facebook.
Our military service gave us so much to talk about and we had so many mutual friends to reminiscence about.
Gary's medical conditions started at an early age and he suffered in so many ways over the years but his outlook on life was always positive and his faith in God never waived.
Gary wanted to live but knew his life was going to be cut short.
He was ready to die and his sights were set on seeing his Heavenly Father.
Gary had a marvelous wife that stood by his side all these years and there never was a time that we talked or wrote that he didn't mention Maggie and how blessed he had been to have her from the beginning.
This past summer Gary and Margaret were home for their 55th class reunion and we had planned a get together but as luck would have it Margaret had to rush Gary to the hospital.
My wife Ruth and I were able to visit Gary and Margaret at the hospital and it was such a joyous occasion.
No more suffering Gary, you have passed over to the other side.
Sincere Condolences to Maggie and all of the family.

We are so sorry to hear of Nick's passing. We enjoyed our brief time as neighbors with you both and I enjoyed playing cards and sharing stories with Nick. I can hear him saying "I raise" during that poker game he is now playing in Heaven.

Dear Margaret,

The Nedela's have so many memories of Gary and all the Nicholson's and of you, too, of course! We were all part of the neighborhood kids, even though you lived many blocks away. And so many other memories developed during visits back to Port Huron after we had all moved away. And even more memories from Facebook. What a wonderful way to keep in touch.

You and your children are in my prayers, as you and Gary have been for many years.

Love,
Louise

Was surprised to hear of Gary's passing. He was always Gary to me because I knew him in elementary school. We went to Monroe school for four years and since there was only one class per grade we were always in the same class
After Monroe we went to Jefferson. There , we were not always in the same class and at high school were rarely together but I did read about his many accomplishments .He grew up to be the gentleman that he was as a young man.
My sympathy to all of you. May your many fond memories comfort you at this time and bring you peace.

Gary was such an inspiration to us all to keep fighting and have a smile for everyone. We will have great memories and will keep you in our prayers.

Neighbor “Nick”, always with a smile and a twinkle in his eye, would sometimes sit on his porch and share stories of his life with us. What a remarkable life and accomplished career he had.

He was amusing and deeply patriotic and devoted to his wife and family.

Our favorite memory of Nick was seeing him zip through the neighborhood riding his hand-peddled bike. Nothing ever seemed to get him down.

He was an inspiration on many levels and will be deeply missed.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. Please know we are thinking of you each and every day during this difficult time.

"Nick" and I were high school classmates. We had a lot of fun. The thing I'll remember most about him is his terrific outlook on life. I never saw or heard him complain about his health issues. He was always so positive about everything. I'm sure there must have been times when he was down, but I never saw them. He was a terrific Patriot and served our country as an Army Officer with distinction and honor. I salute you, Nick! You will be missed.
