

Geneva Louise Burton, 87, of Cary, North Carolina, formerly of Wichita, Kansas, died peacefully on September 14, 2013, at her home in Waltonwood. Born April 13, 1926 in Phillipsburg, KS, she is predeceased by her parents, Joe and Florence (Anderson) Beim of Phillipsburg, KS, and her late husband of 35 years, Stephen H. Burton of Wichita, KS.
Louise was one of the first women managers at Boeing Military Airplane Company in Wichita where she worked for more than 30 years. After her retirement from Boeing, she completed a Master’s degree in Anthropology at Wichita State University and managed the WSU Anthropology lab for several years. She loved to travel and spent time in the Southwest as well as the Far East—visiting Hong Kong and Thailand among others. She also enjoyed video poker and often traveled with family and friends to Las Vegas and other locales and other locales until a few years before her passing.
Survivors include her two daughters, Kayla B. (William F. “Lin”) Gray of Cary, and LuAnn D. (John B.) Fortin of Hansville, Washington; granddaughter, Anne E. Gray of Chapel Hill, NC; brother, John Beim, of Phillipsburg, KS; three nephews and one niece.
Private services were held at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Road, Cary on September 25, 2013 at 10:30 am.
Private services will be held at Old Mission Mortuary Chapel, 3424 E. 21st Street, Wichita on November 9, 2013 at 10:30 am.
