Gerri received a Bachelors Degree in Liberal Arts from Fontbonne College in St. Louis, Missouri. She was the first in her family to go to and graduate from college.
In her early 40’s, Gerri started taking computer programming classes and worked as a computer programmer for over 15 years.
Gerri was passionate about volunteering for the American Cancer Society. She was first diagnosed with cancer in 1985 and wanted to help people on their cancer journey. Over her lifetime, Gerri was diagnosed with cancer over 10 times, but was very proud to have the survivor gene and be able to help other people based on her own personal experiences.
Gerri was a resident of Morgantown, West Virginia, until the summer of 2024 when she moved to Cary, North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony. She is survived by her brothers John and Joe and his wife Anita, her daughter Tricia and son Carl and his wife Jenn, grandchildren Patty and her husband Robert, and Tom and his wife Namra, and her three great granddaughters, Alexis, Abigail, and Anna.
