

Gladys Chidester, 96, of Cary NC, went home to the Lord on August 13, 2012. She was born in Waukesha, Wisconsin to Frank and Lillian Schwoch on November 14, 1915. Gladys married Lester Wiedeman June 15, 1935, a marriage that bore three children, Charles, Ruth Ann, and Dan. Lester died in 1959. Gladys married Albert Holmquist in 1961. He died in 1977. She then married Robert Chidester on February 23, 1992. He survives. She is also survived by Charles and Pat Wiedeman of Waukesha, Wisconsin; Frederick and Ruth Ann Camplin of Cary, NC, 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and six step-children. In addition to her parents and her two previous husbands, she was preceded in death by her sister, Evelyn Schuetze, son, Dan and one grandson, Darrell Camplin.
Throughout her lifetime, Gladys took great joy in serving others. She was a past matron of the Pewaukee chapter, Order of Eastern Star. While at Elmbrook Church in Waukesha, where Gladys was an Elder, she was involved in the prison ministry, was a member of the woman’s circle and hosted small group ministries in her home. Gladys and her husband Bob received the Outstanding Volunteer Award for mentoring grade school children in the Communities in schools of Wake County Tutor/Mentor Program in 1998. At Crossroads Fellowship in Raleigh, NC, Gladys was active in Stephen Ministry and served as a facilitator and teacher for Bible Study groups.
The family will receive friends 1:00 – 2:00 pm Friday, August 17, 2012 at Crossroads Fellowship, 2721 Millbrook Rd, Raleigh NC 27609. A memorial service will follow the visitation at 2:00 pm at the church.
