Gloria, the daughter of Maltese immigrant John W. Lisano and Frances Bernadine Tipton, was born June 5, 1937 in Houston, Texas. She was the first in her family to attend college, earning her Bachelors Degree in Sociology from the Texas Women’s University, Denton TX in 1959. Following in the law enforcement footsteps of her grandfather and older brother, she then joined the Houston Police Force where she was amongst the first female officers on the force. She later met and married her husband of 61 years, Kenneth B. Craib, while he was stationed near Houston in the US Air Force.
Leaving the Police Force in 1964, Gloria devoted herself to family and raising her four children, amidst which, she also earned her Masters Degree in Sociology from San Jose State University. Gloria subsequently worked in various capacities as a Court Advocate for women and in Children’s Homes. An entrepreneur in her own right, she also owned a beautician shop and a horse ranch in Placerville, CA.
In addition to her professional activities, Gloria enjoyed crafting, music, travel, sponsoring community theaters, and raising competition Arabian horses. Family, however, always remained her priority.
Gloria was preceded in death by her husband Ken and her three brothers: Jack, Jim, and Mike Lisano. She is survived by her children Ken Craib, Jr. (Carole), Judi Hoisington (Ken), Lori Coleal, Melissa Dombrowski (Patrick), and 13 grandchildren.
