Hannah Youngblood Carmody

Raleigh…..Hannah Youngblood Carmody, age 93, passed away peacefully April 12, 2018 at her daughter’s home surrounded by family. Hannah was born July 20, 1924 in Mecklenburg County. She was the daughter of the late John Franklin and Irene Byrum Youngblood. She grew up in Steele Creek the youngest of 9 children. Hannah married Edward Francis Carmody Sr. on May 13, 1944. In addition to raising 5 children, Hannah enjoyed a 27 year career in the banking industry with First Union/Wachovia. She spent her entire life as a loving and caring person to all her family and friends. Hannah is preceded in death by her husband, Edward, and her son Thomas Patrick Carmody (surviving wife Catherine). She is survived by her children Edward Carmody Jr., Sheila Engels, Phillip Carmody, and Margaret Williams (Colby); grandchildren Christian (Jennifer), Kevin (Katie), Dennis (Carrie), Kimberly, Brigid, and Stacy; great grandchildren Hannah, Scott, Adelaide, Charlotte, Devon, Tommy, Marykenna and Maverick. A visitation will be held May 11th at 10 a.m. at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church 3016 Providence Road in Charlotte. A funeral mass celebrating her life will be held at 11 a.m. in the Chapel with a reception following.
