A funeral service with military honors will be held on Monday, February 10, 2014 at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Father Tom Gumprecht of St. Andrew's Catholic Church.
Harold (or Hal, as he was known to friends and family) was born February 28, 1945, in Fond du Lac, WI, and was a member of Berlin High School's class of 1963. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1987 at Headquarters TAC, Langley AFB, VA, as a chief master sergeant, after 22 years of distinguished military service, having served tours in Vietnam, Korea and Germany. It was in Germany that he met his loving wife, Margaret. He was awarded numerous awards and decorations, the most notable being the Meritorious Service Medal.
Hal was a loyal and giving friend -- always a "people person", always ready to help a friend in need. In his marriage, he exemplified Christian love and commitment. To his family, he left behind a legacy of loyalty, selflessness and love. He will be missed by many.
He is survived by his wife Margaret, to whom he was married for 46 years; son John and his wife Cheryl; grandchildren Katherine, Hannah and Matthew; mother Winifred Tuchalski of Spooner, WI; sister Patricia McNamer of Spooner, WI; brother Thomas Klassa of Spooner, WI; sister Sheryl Kearney and her husband Jesse of Pine Bluff, AR; sister Holly Harris and her husband Rev. Edward of Muskegon, MI; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
