Born in Boston on June 17, 1937, daughter of the late John and Gertrude (England) O’Neill, she grew up in Watertown, MA. She graduated from Kent’s Hill School (Maine) in 1955 and continued her education by graduating from New England Baptist School of Nursing in 1958. She married Kent Harris in 1959 and relocated to Vicenza, Italy where Kent was stationed in the US Army. After having children Helen worked as a registered nurse at New England Baptist Hospital for 20 years and Lahey Clinic for another 5 years. In 1986 she decided to change careers and started selling real estate in Concord, bringing the same caring attitude to her real estate customers as she did with her patients as a nurse.
Helen loved putting her toes in the sand on the beaches of Cape Cod, frequenting Bayview Beach in Dennis when her children were young, and then “big rock” beach with her grandchildren, who were her greatest joy in life. Her spirit and dedication to family will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Kent Harris, and their children Scott Harris and his wife Carol of Daytona Beach, FL, Sandy Harris-Graney and her husband Mark of Acton, MA, and Shawn Harris and his wife Mina of Cary, NC, and her beloved grandchildren: Katrina Harris, Trevor, Hannah, and Emma Graney, and Rachel and Nathan Harris and his wife Brooke, and one great grandchild: Graham Kent Harris.
There will be no local service but an inurnment for Helen in Maine at a later date.
