She was born December 15, 1934 in Greece. She married Donald Joostema who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Cole Burwell.
Surviving are her son, Jeffrey Joostema of Youngsville; daughters, Donna Joostema of Holly Springs, and Stephane Joostema of Pittsboro; sister, Stella Osterhoudt of New York; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
On Monday, January 18 at 11:00 a.m. a Liturgy celebrating Helen’s life will be held at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 500 Lead Mine Road, Raleigh, 27612. Burial will be in Raleigh Memorial Park.
