Hilda G. Hill

in Kinston, North Carolina, to Dan and Bernice Gooding.

As a faithful servant of the Lord, Hilda was a beloved and longtime member of Westwood Baptist Church in Cary, North Carolina. Hilda retired from a decade-long career at NC Farm Bureau Insurance. Prior to that, she proudly served her country as an active-duty military wife for more than 20 years, supporting her family through many relocations and the demands of U.S. Army life. Hilda was an enthusiastic college basketball fan and loyal supporter of the NC State Wolfpack.

Hilda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles “Chig” Hill; her son, Bob Massengill; her stepdaughter, Roseann Hill; her brother-in-law, David Daniels; her brother, Floyd Gooding; and her parents, Dan and Bernice Gooding.

She is survived by her son, Bill (Debbie) Massengill of Elgin, Illinois; her stepson, Chuck (Denise) Hill of Greensboro, North Carolina; her sister, Dannie Susan Daniels of Kinston, North Carolina; her grandchildren: Anna (Graham) Bauer of Elmhurst, Illinois; Steven (Raya) Massengill of Zionsville, Indiana; Foster (Savannah) Massengill of Charlotte, North Carolina; and Danae (fiancé Emmu Wakai) Massengill of Denver, Colorado; and five great-grandchildren, who brought her much joy in her later years. She is also survived by her step-grandchildren, Adam (Taylor) Hill and Carly (Alex) Carrillo and their families.

Hilda will be remembered for her steadfast faith, her devotion to family, and her delicious cooking that served her community and brought loved ones together. She leaves behind a family who loved her dearly and will cherish the traditions she created and love she shared.

Celebration of Life

A celebration of life will be held at Westwood Baptist Church in Cary on Tuesday, October 27th, at 1PM, with visitation with the family to follow in the fellowship hall.

The family will also receive friends on Monday, October 26th from 6 to 7:30PM at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 Southeast Maynard Rd, Cary, NC.
