Its so good to hear from you! I've been checking in periodically waiting for you. Im so excited for you and your engagement!! I still have my last voice mail message from your mom. I play it alot, and when I close my eyes real tight, I too can feel your mom's presence..and the cashmere sweaters..hahah (i loved those)

    Not a single day, nor waking hour goes by that I don't think about you.  So much has happened the last few months. I wish I could just call you and tell you everything, good and bad.  I know you'd be happy and excited for me about the good, and I know you'd  make me feel better and give me advice that doesn't suck about the bad.  I know you're here with me so you know all these things I refer to, but it would just be really nice if you were physically here to give me hug when I'm sad, or to give me a hug to congratulate me on this day.  I wish you could be here so badly.  My pain does not seem to be healing or lessening any, which has made it difficult to be strong for Juan during his times of need.  But sometimes when I close my eyes hard enough, I can feel your arms around me and I know you're always smiling.  And when I wear your incredibly comfortable and soft, but outdated cashmere sweaters, I smile too.

And Meshia, if you read this, thank you so, so, so much for your  such sweet words.  I know what you mean by a card seeming so final, I know that is absolutely not what my mom would want.  She loved, and still loves, you dearly and talked about you all the time.  Your friendship meant so much to her, and I can't thank you enough for that and for always being there for her.  I truly hope we do keep in touch and can fill each other in on the info my mom would've filled us in on.  Here's something she would've told you...I got engaged today!

I miss Hope, and I miss listening to her share wonderful stories about her children.  I think about you all often. I had a condolence card prepared for you all, but I felt a little lost and confused..I didn't want it to be the last time I would ever hear from you all, or the last time I would hear how you guys were doing. Giving you a card seemed so permanent and final; so i kept it in my purse. Hope, your mom, was always the one that made me feel like I was an extended part of your family, hahaha-  My days spent in Raleigh, NC were special because of her. I hear songs on the radio that we used to sing together, and it makes me think back on those times when were running around the office laughing, playing, and singing, and sneaking into her locker for snacks. She made me a better person.  I  will never forget......-Meshia

i miss u. i can't stop looking at your picture. i think about u all the time and have noticed that my memories usually go back to you in your 30s.  laughing, smiling,dancing with dad. you were so beautiful and full of life.  i also like to think about more recent times whenever the family would get together and how you loved to sit and watch your kids pick on each other. i wish you were here so we could watch steel magnolias one last time and eat shrimp cocktail and drink mimosas. i just can't believe you're really gone.  i never told u enough how much i love you, or thanked you enough for all you did for me. i know i drove you crazy.  I'm so sorry for that.  i think about you whenever the sun shines on my face, and whenever i see pink, or butterflies, or when i drink hot tea.  I still hear your voice when I'm dragging my feet or popping my gum telling me to quit. 
i'm so scared that I'm gonna lose kim and ariana the way we lost you. 
one of my favorite memories of you was when we were in the hospital for three days while ginger was being born.  we were in our own little world, remember? we laughed and talked so much.  i remember you crying when ginger was born.  i remember the way you pronounced words like visitOR.  i remember the way you chewed. i remember how you hated when i would say a cuss word. i remember how you stuck by me when there was almost no one else. i love when people say i look like you. i love when people say I'm alot like you. i miss the way you woke me up and tucked me in by rubbing me and tickling me and "getting my eyelashes," even when i was 33.  I'm sorry it took me so long to put something on here for you, but you know how i am. always late. avoiding. I'm working on that.  i miss and love you so much momma. I'm so happy God made you my momma.

Three weeks today.  It's been a rough three weeks.  I've had my periods of ups and downs.  Mother's Day was more down than up.  It got worse after i wrote to you.  Yesterday was a very up day, though.  Kim and I spent the day at Southpoint and had a very, very good time together.  Everything I thought of you made me smile.  Today was a down day again.  My pinky toenail broke completely off and it was gross and painful.  I have this other pain that's been bother me for almost two weeks, but has become unbearable today.  And on top of that, today I found out I have the BRAC 1 gene, too.  I knew that I would have it, but now actually hearing I have it, i do not feel so prepared.  I hope I can be even just half as strong as you.  But I'm scared.  I know you will be with me to help me through this, I just wish you could physically be here.  I miss and love you, Momma.

Happy Mother's Day, Momma.  I was fine today until I heard a song that has reminded me of you since the very first time I heard it.  The lyrics meant more and hit even harder than before.  As I listened to the song and stared at your high school graduation photo hanging on my mirror, of course I cried.  It's still hard to grasp that I can no longer call you and expect you to answer or call me back.  Right now, I could really use your voice, your smell, and a your hug.

I thought I was mentally prepared for the devastation cancer would bring  into our family.  We have been fighting it for years.   I was very wrong.   I knew I would miss Mom everyday.  It's the pain of knowing life is too short.  We don't get to say everything we want to say.   So many things bring memories of her. Pink, Flowers, Songs, Expressions, Casey our cat and so much more. Some days it still doesn't feel real.  I keep expecting her to walk out of her room and fix her morning tea. Then she always wanted to know all the family's daily schedule. She liked to keep track of everyone. I wish she was just vacationing at the beach.  I know in my mind and heart, she is in heaven. Free of pain. Free of suffering.  Watching over us. I just wish I could talk to her today. I need her today.
It's been two weeks and two days.  I miss my Mom and I need her .  Sometimes, you just want your Mama.  Today, is one of those days.  I love you .

It has now been nine days since my mom passed away.  It still doesn't feel real to me.  Every morning since she's been gone, I have caught myself singing in my head "How Bizarre" by O.M.C.  It was our favorite song during the summer I spent with her in 1996.  Today, while driving home, "Hold On" by Wilson Philips came on my I-Pod.  I'm not sure why this song reminds me of my mom, but it always has since I first heard it when I was four.  As soon as it came on, I bursted into tears.  I miss her so much and it make my heart ache knowing that I can no longer call her and she will no longer call me whenever a song comes on the radio that we used to love together.  I know she's in a place now where she's not in any pain, but this knowledge does not lessen my pain from missing her and from knowing that when these times come, she can't help me pick out my wedding dress, or be there to hug me on my wedding day, or hold any of my children.  I love you, Momma, and miss and will continue to miss you every single day.

  During a lifetime, an individual is deemed a success by the number of friendships he/she is able to put together.That may be,but truly good friends can be counted on one hand.Hope Land falls into that group.When Hope smiled,the entire room lit up.Her laugh was contagious.Her passion was her family and the bond that was formed therein.In the words of my daughter,Carter,she was a classy southern lady who embraced family values to the max.She maintained a sharp wit,uncanny business skills, and was one of the most detailed people I have ever known.Hope was forever giving, and asked nothing in return.I know I,for one,can say I'm a much better person for having Hope as my friend.I will miss her. What a lucky day it was when Hope Land answered my add for an office assistant! Hope came with no dental experience and I took a chance on hiring her.  During her 10 years of employment, she became the leader in our office and ultimately Business Office Manager.  Hope told me soon after she was hired that "my goal is to know what you need done, and get it done before you even know you need it done".  I must say, she achieved her goal, and then some!  Hope was to me what "Radar O'Reilly" was to the commander of the unit on the popular TV series M*A*S*H*.  She knew everything about keeping our office running smoothly, got things done before I even knew there was a problem to tackle, never missed a deadline, helped me with my personal life (a daunting task at best), was the emotional "glue" for the ladies in the office, worked as long as necessary to get the job done, came in on the weekends if necessary...  Such work ethic, concern and attention to detail is difficult to find in an employee.  I could go on and on.  Hope brought so much to the office and to my life.  She was a very special, kind, warm southern lady who will be missed.  All my love to Hope and her family.
