

Hugh was born April 24, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY to Wayne and Dorothy Bannard. He was a WWII veteran of the US Army, where he served in Africa, Italy and was stationed in many numerous places in the United States. Hugh was employed with a utility company in New York, retiring after over 30 years of service. He was an active member of VFW Reedy Creek Post 7383 and the American Legion Post 67. Hugh received many honors for his military service, including the Purple Heart. He was very active in his community and was loved by all who knew him. Hugh attended St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Cary.
Hugh is survived by his wife of 62 years, Filomena Bannard; children, Hugh Bannard, Jr.; Dr. Daniel Bannard; and Amelia Sullivan all of Cary; and his grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home Chapel, 200 SE Maynard Road, Cary, NC 27511. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will held Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at Salisbury National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC.
