Ines Pagano, 92, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2021, in North Carolina. She was born on February 4, 1929, in Newark, New Jersey, the third of four children to Vittoria and John Coldebella.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 47 years, Joseph Pagano; her sister, Anne Bressan; and her brother, Agastino Coldebella.
She is survived by her brother John (Patricia) of Sun West City, Arizona; sister-in-law Phyllis Coldebella of Nutley, New Jersey; her children, eldest daughter Anna Lynch (William) of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; daughter Valerie Boyle of Beaufort, North Carolina; daughter Lisa Jo (Steven) of Boulder, Colorado; and son Joseph (Paola) of Cary, North Carolina. She was “Mema” to 12 grandchildren and two great-granddaughters. She was Aunt Ines to many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Ines grew up in Nutley and Newark, New Jersey. She met her husband, Joseph, while both were employed at Eastern Airlines, sharing their love of art and tennis throughout their marriage. She was a secretary for Roselle Park High School for many years. She received her associate degree later in life and enjoyed substitute teaching. Ines loved sharing her passion for tennis with young adult Special Olympians. She was active in the Roselle Park PTA, taking leadership roles throughout her children’s school years. Ines volunteered on other political and residential committees throughout her long life, making improvements through her creativity and problem solving. As anyone who knew her would attest, she loved music and could always be heard humming a tune for the enjoyment of all. Ines had a lifelong passion for reading which she instilled in her children. She was a game enthusiast, especially enjoying Bingo, Mahjong, and Rummikub with family and friends. She was a phenomenal cook and always invited everyone to her table proclaiming, “there is always room for one more.” Italian was her first language, and, until her final days, was sharing her wise Italian sayings with her loved ones.
A viewing will be held Thursday, April 1, at the Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary, North Carolina, from 1:00-4:00. A mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church in Allenstown, New Jersey, on Tuesday, April 6, at 12:30 with burial to follow at BG William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, New Jersey, at 2:00.
