I miss my great-grandma she was sooo sweet and kind she all ways had that smile that made you smile my family misses her sooooo much.

Ook ik herinner me tante Irene als een moedige en lieve vrouw die altijd veel belangstelling had voor onze familie. De tijd dat oom Jack en tante Irene naar Nederland kwamen. Wim haalde ze dan van het vliegveld om voor een week of 4 in Kaatsheuvel te logeren. We gingen dan een keertje uit eten wat altijd heel gezellig was. Veel sterkte voor de familie met het gemis! Dear Tante Irene
Now I appreciate even more, how special our last telephone-call was on May 4th.
We talked about your years as a young woman, living already in Holland, and you told me about what happpend with your life and the lifes of your family. 
It was always in your mind, the WW II. You were so special to me, you were my godmother, as Oom Jacques was my godfather. You invited me to come over to Cary in 1978, my first visit to the US. You spoiled me with your perfect diners, the komkommersalade, and warm hospitality. My parents loved your visits to Kaatsheuvel every year, together with Oom Jacques and after his passing away, by yourself, so brave! 
The last timede met was 2 years ago, in Cary, and I am so grateful for that. You can be sure that the warm and special  relationship between you and my parents will be continued between Emke and me till the end of our lifes. We will miss you, but we will never forget you. How special our last telephone call on May, 4th , was, we talked about your time as a young woman, living with your parents already in Holland, you remembered all the details of the people you met in that time. So exactly and amazing was your memorie.you were my godmother, as Oom Jacques was my godfather, and you invited me to come to Cary in 1978. What a wonderful time I had, with your thoughtful personality and Oom Jacques good advices for my future life. Never forget your komkommersalade! All your visits to Holland, we loved it! After Oom Jacques passed away, you still visited our family,  so brave of you! My last visit to you was 2 years ago, I am so happy we had the possibility to speak and lunched together. And for sure, our family traditions  will be continued by the next generation, I promised you! My dear Tante Irene, may you rest in peace, We will keep you in our hearts. She is fondly remembered.  An always cheerful woman, available and thoughtful.  Resilience is a characteristic unevenly distributed in humans; she had far more than the usual allocation.  An inspiration.
