He is survived by his wife, KeAnne Hoeg; his son, Daniel Hoeg; his mother, Paulette Jaeger (Jerry); his grandfather, John Adams; and his brother, John Hoeg (Carol); nephew, Jack Hoeg; and cats Lexie, Nessa and Desmond.
While Jim made his career in IT, he also enjoyed art, music and reading. He loved watching Doctor Who, Lord of the Rings, the Hobbit and the Star Wars franchise (the good movies, not the prequels) with his son, Daniel. Jim performed as sous chef in the kitchen to KeAnne’s head chef, perfecting their homemade marinara sauce and preventing her from chopping off her fingers thanks to his meticulous knife cuts.
Though he was born in New York, Jim considered himself a North Carolinian and preferred Eastern-style BBQ. He loved spending time at the beach and mountains and achieved a life-long dream when he visited Paris for the first time. Jim was a loyal friend and family member and had a wickedly dry sense of humor. Tomato was his favorite food group.
Jim will be remembered fondly and missed terribly. The works of J.R.R. Tolkien were a particular favorite of his, and as the Lady Galadriel says: “Do not let your hearts be troubled. I will not say do not weep, for not all tears are an evil.”
A visitation celebrating Jim’s life will be held on November 8, 2020 at 2:00 – 4:00 pm at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 Southeast Maynard Road, Cary, NC.
