James Daniel Lowery
December 8, 1946 – September 29, 2022

James Daniel Lowery “Dan” age 75, of Raleigh, NC and also formerly of Morganton, NC passed away Thursday afternoon September 29, 2022 surrounded by his family at Duke University Hospital. Born December 8, 1946 in Morganton, NC, he was the son of the late Jack Otis Lowery and Rena Fowler Lowery.
Dan was an active member of The Shepherd’s Church in Cary, NC where he was an usher and loved to meet and greet everyone. He was a proud military veteran of the US Army and served in the Vietnam War. After the military he spent most of his career as a project manager with IBM. He was an avid outdoorsmen who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also had a special interest in military memorabilia. He was a very devoted and loving husband, daddy and Pop. He was so loved by his family and we will miss him so much.
Dan is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Darleen Lowery; along with his loving daughter Kim Doreauk(Robert) and two grandchildren, that he loved with all is heart, Isabella and Luke Doreauk; all of Raleigh, NC. He is also survived by his only brother, Roger Lowery(Judy)of Morganton, NC and many other loving relatives and friends.
A graveside military memorial service will be held at a later date at Forest Hills Cemetery in Morganton, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the North Carolina Heroes Fund.
