Floyd was born on July 1, 1927 in Wake County to the late James and Gertrude Langdon McConnell. He was a lifelong member of Macedonia United Methodist Church, and an employee of A & P Tea Company for 40 plus years.
In addition to his parents, Floyd was preceded in death by his brother Carl Ed McConnell.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years; Edith Rose Smith McConnell, his children; James E. McConnell and wife Cindy, Janet M. Joyner and partner James Manning, and Cynthia (Cindy) Wilson and husband Tony, 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and his brother Alfred Earl McConnell and wife Ann.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Macedonia United Methodist Church, 2700 Jones Franklin Rd. Cary, NC 27518. Burial will immediately follow the service at Montlawn Memorial Park in Raleigh.
The family will receive friends and visitors on the evening of Friday, October 26, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary. 200 SE Maynard Rd. Cary, NC 27511
