Janet Bell Dunn, 61, passed away gracefully in the comfort of her home, with her sister, family and friends at her side, on November 4, 2014. Born on January 29, 1953 in Auburn, Alabama; she was the daughter of the late Vernon L. Bell Jr. and Joanne Cunningham Bell.
Jan was an enthusiastic member of the Pittsboro community, embracing the creative heartbeat of the diversity of music, art and the natural beauty of her home. A master basket weaver, she participated in the Chatham Artist Guild and was happily on the tour in the last few years.
As life evolved she learned to live her life to the fullest. Good music, good food and drink, and the company of friends filled her life with gratitude and joy.
In the midst of the last five months, her awareness of the beauty of her life was heightened, allowing her to live with gusto and appreciation.
Family and friends would like to thank the team of care providers at UNC Lineberger Cancer Hospital, UNC Hospice, and the continual love, support, thoughts and prayers from so many.
She is lovingly remembered by her sister, Carolyn Vasta and husband Paul Vasta, her nephew Paul Michael Vasta, from Salem Oregon; by her many friends and extended family.
A Celebration in her memory will be held at Chatham Mills in Pittsboro on Saturday, November 8, 2014 from 3-5 PM.
Memorial contributions can be made to The Chatham Artists Guild - PO Box 1024 - Pittsboro, NC 27312, the NRGRR Golden Retriever Rescue - PO Box 37156 - Raleigh, NC 27627-7156 - www.goldenrescuenc.org or to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society - www.lls.org
