Jean Mullinax McKee

A native of Taylors, Southern Carolina, she was born November 7, 1938, to the late Sherman Allard Mullinax and Jessie Bradley Mullinax. She attended Furman University studying Accounting and had a long-varied career. Some of her happiest days were when she worked for Hunt, Dupree, Rhine for many years as the head of their 401(k)-administration department. She loved the people she worked with and the many clients she came to know. After being acquired by Wachovia Bank, she became the Vice President of their 401(k) administration, and she retired in 2003. She then moved to Morrisville, North Carolina to be near her daughter and grandchildren. She will always be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, co-worker and “Grammy”.

She was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband of 43 years, Billy C. McKee. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Malinda McKee Sherman and Scott Michael Sherman of Midlothian, Virginia and her grandchildren, Jessie Sherman Stewart and her husband, Christian Alexander Stewart of Wendell, North Carolina, and Blake Thomas Sherman of Charlotte, North Carolina. She also leaves behind her best friend of 60 years, Nancy Adams of Taylors, South Carolina.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 23, 2024, at Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery at 6628 Good Hope Church Road in Cary, North Carolina.
