

Jeannine Carroll Hughes, 54 of Cary, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2024 due to bile duct cancer. Jeannine was born in Bronx, NY and spent her early childhood in Danbury, CT, where she attended St. Gregory the Great grammar school. When she was 14 years old, she moved to Cary, NC, where she has since resided.
Jeannine graduated from Cary High School in 1988 before earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from NC State University. Jeannine has been a very active member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Cary, serving in its Faith Formation program for many years. She also felt blessed to work as a Special Education teacher at her alma mater, Cary High School, where her colleagues rallied around her in loving support in her most difficult days.
Jeannine is survived by her three daughters Anna Hughes (Smith) and her husband Doug, Rachel Hughes, Josie Hughes; sister Christine Urgo and her husband David; sister Elizabeth El-Hage and her husband Elias; brother Brian Carroll; mother Elizabeth Carroll; and Thomas Hughes. In addition, she is survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and beloved friends who have provided unwavering love and support in these past few months.

The family will receive friends at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary on Sunday, October 27, 2024 between 6-8pm. A funeral Mass will be held at 11am at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Cary on Monday October 28, 2024.
