We are deeply saddened to share that Jerome Stanton Wormuth, age 82, of Cary, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025. Born on March 14, 1943, in Waukegan, Illinois, Jerome was the cherished son of the late Wilbur and Margaret Wormuth.
Jerome’s journey carried him to Schalmont High School in Schenectady, where he graduated in 1961, followed by earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the State University College at Oneonta, New York, in 1967.
Those who had the privilege of knowing Jerome will always remember him for his dry wit and subtle humor, which brought joy and laughter to those around him. He was a strong-willed and hard-working individual, traits that defined him throughout his life.
A man of quiet faith, Jerome found solace and community at Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Apex, North Carolina. There, he embraced the fellowship that brought him purpose and joy. His passions included a lifelong love of history and reading, and he treasured the moments spent biking and walking along the American Tobacco Trail. Above all, Jerome will be remembered for the beautiful life he built, one filled with love, care, and a steadfast commitment to his family. His greatest joy came from creating a meaningful life for those he loved.
Jerome is survived by his beloved wife, Beverly Gill Wormuth; his devoted daughters, Laura Hochuli and her husband, Tom, and Denise Walsh and her husband, Mike. He was a proud grandfather to Taylor Hochuli of Hoboken, New Jersey; Joshua Hochuli of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; Thomas Walsh and his wife, Molly, of Stantonsburg, North Carolina; and Benjamin Walsh of Cary, North Carolina. He also leaves behind his brothers, Jeffrey Wormuth and his wife, Jan, of Fort Mill, South Carolina, and James Wormuth and his wife, Nancy, of Ocala, Florida.
In addition to his parents, Jerome was preceded in death by his brother, John Wormuth.
A memorial service to honor Jerome’s incredible life is scheduled for Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, located at 724 Beaver Creek Road, Apex, North Carolina 27502. Family and friends are kindly invited to gather and remember a life that was both well-lived and deeply loved.
Jerome’s final resting place will be at The Elk Cemetery in Elk Creek, New York, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family warmly requests that donations be made to Matthew 25 Ministry at Ebenezer UMC, 724 Beaver Creek Road, Apex, North Carolina 27502, in loving memory of Jerome.
