Jim Schaefer

James “Jim” Albert Schaefer of Fuquay Varina, North Carolina went to be with his Lord on November 19, 2022 at the age of 74 after a long battle with Inclusion Body Myositis, a rare neuromuscular autoimmune disease.

Jim was born in Eupora, MS to Will and Eva Schaefer. He graduated from Moss Point High School and then served as a Petty Officer in the Navy for 6 years. He married Yvonne Schaefer while attending California Baptist College. They served as missionaries in Swaziland, Africa for 6 years. He resided in Wake County since 1993 working as an electronics technician for various companies and a laboratory technician for the USDA.

Jim is survived by his wife of nearly 45 years, Yvonne Schaefer; his sons, Peter Joseph (Suzanne) Schaefer, Jesse Andrew (Lindsay) Schaefer, Daniel Adam (Sarah) Schaefer, and Stephen Jared (Mackenzie) Schaefer; his grandchildren, Alia, David, Caleb, Myka, Olivia, Megan, Marcus, Alison, Violet, Scarlett and Poppy; his siblings, Robert (Nancy) Schaefer and Linda Kendrick; and two nieces and one nephew.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William Schaefer and Mary Eva Sisk Schaefer.

He enjoyed playing softball, doing jigsaw puzzles, and researching family genealogy. He loved to hang out with his family and tell jokes even though he could rarely remember the punchlines. A gentle, devoted and compassionate man, he will be dearly missed by all.

Visitation for Jim will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 4:50 PM at Cary Church of God, 107 Quade Dr, Cary, NC 27513, followed by a funeral service at 5:00 PM. The family will receive friends after the service.
