Born on January 1, 1947 in Cliffside, North Carolina, to Ida Geraldine Harmon Phillips, Jimmy lived most of his life in the Raleigh area. While still in high school, he joined the Marine Corps, a decision which influenced much of what he did in life, and one of which he always remained extremely proud. He finished high school while in the Marines, and subsequently continued his education with computer and electronic engineering courses at Wake Tech and NC State. He and his wife, Patricia founded and operated Graphics Ink, where he served as both Vice President and President, while taking the responsibility for maintaining the computers and electronic equipment.
He is survived by his wife of forty-one years, Patricia “Trish” Beverly Harmon, of the home; his daughter, Ellen H. Davinson and husband, John, and their children, Johnathon and Andrew of Clayton; and his son, Jimmy Dean “Dean” Harmon, Jr., and wife, Casey, and their son, Matthew, also of Clayton. He also leaves behind sisters, Vita Timberlake and Rhonda Jones, Pamela P. Moon, and a brother, Lee Phillips, all from Raleigh.
A celebration of his life will take place at 2:00 pm Sunday, October 28, 2012 at the Brown Wynne Funeral Home Chapel, 200 SE Maynard Rd, Cary, NC 27511, with the family receiving friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
