John Frank Kopec

John was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1957 to 1960. He was a member and former Chief of the South Hackensack Volunteer Fire Department in New Jersey for 25 years and retired as a Police Captain from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey after 32 years of service.

John was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Diane (Ostrowski) Kopec; his loving son, Kevin, and his wife, Catherine; and his granddaughters, Samantha and Kristen Kopec.

He is predeceased by his mother, Caroline Kopec; father, John Kopec; a half-sister, Genowefa Jarosz Madej; and a brother, Gerald Kopec.

Following cremation, a Memorial Mass will be held at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 804 High House Road, Cary, NC, Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 10:30 AM.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church, 49 Vreeland Ave., Hackensack, NJ, Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 9:30 AM. An inurnment will take place at Hackensack Cemetery immediately following.
