

He graduated from Cornell University in 1941 and served in World War II in Army Ordnance 1941-1946, supervising munitions plants production and attaining the rank of Major.
After the war, he joined Remington Rand as Asst. Director of Procurement. With their merger with Sperry, the left for a position with Old Town Corp. of NYC in 1953 and was called back in 1956 by Sperry Rand as Director of Procurement and Traffic.
He was a member of the National Association of Purchasing Agents and American Management Association, and was a guest lecturer at City College of NY.
John was a Boy Scout Eagle Scout and was active in the Scouts, serving as Advancement Chairman. He also was active in the community as Chairman of the local School Feasibility Committee in Long Island, and on other community committees. He was an avid bridge player who served as President of bridge clubs in Long Island and Florida.
John is survived by his loving wife, Joan, and daughter Gayle and son-in-law David, and was preceded in death by son John Robinson Jr.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 16th, 2016, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Cary. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
