John M. Roessner

He came to know Jesus as a young boy. In North Plainfield Baptist Church, NJ the bible truths were shared and he then asked his Mom about it when he got home. They prayed together and he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior!

John was always fascinated by technology, specifically radio and sound. He went on to build a personal radio station as a child, and was an audiophile with his friends Roger Cook and Howard Beres. That interest led him to the Navy. During his service he became the Chief Petty Officer on the USS Providence CLG-6, supervising onboard communications and radar systems. His tenure spanned the Cuban Missile Crisis during the Kennedy Administration. He served on the Flag Ship of the 7th fleet in the Pacific Command.

While stationed in Japan, John had an epiphany, and realized the love of his life was back home, on the other side of the world, studying to be a nurse. So he wrote a heart-felt letter to Susanna Harl requesting an opportunity to court her. When he returned, Susanna accepted and the romance began! The courtship culminated in marriage on Oct 3rd 1964, then two sons Daniel and James. 58 wonderful years shared together!

John and Susanna were active in their local congregation at Calvary Bible Church, PA when they were called to the Ministry. They served from 1976 to the present as missionaries with Trans World Radio, where John’s love of technology and radio was used by God to bring the Good News of Jesus to the World.

A Service Celebrating John's Life will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at 2pm at TWR International Headquarters - 300 Gregson Drive in Cary, North Carolina. (https://twr.org)
