

John Melvin Wallis, a beloved husband, father, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2025. Born on November 28, 1940, in Montreal, Canada, he was the son of the late John Michael Wallis and Ethel Walling Wallis.
John graduated as an electrical engineer specializing in Telecommunications and devoted many years to a successful career in sales with Northern Telecom. His work took him around the world, allowing him to explore diverse cultures and build lasting relationships across the globe.
A passionate enthusiast of model trains, John was an avid collector who delighted in attending train exhibits and shows worldwide. His dedication to this hobby was a true reflection of his meticulous nature and love for craftsmanship.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sheilah Gwen Wallis. He is survived and fondly remembered by his six children: four sons — John Michael Wallis of Apex, NC; Charles Peter Warren of Toronto, Ontario, Canada; David Adam MacIntosh of Vancouver, British Columbia; and Jeffrey Alan Readman of Lewes, UK; and two daughters — Elizabeth Tara Ritchie of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and Kimberly Ann Wallis of Charlotte, NC. John also leaves behind ten beloved grandchildren who brought great overwhelming joy.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of John from 12:45 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home.
A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Brown-Wynne Funeral Home Chapel.
John’s warmth, dedication, and passion for life will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who knew him. May his legacy of kindness and curiosity inspire those he leaves behind.
