Our deepest condolences on Joe's passing.  He adored all of you.  Family first is how he lived his life.  Growing up with my brother was fun.  Being my older brother, he was supposed to 'watch me'! He took me to his baseball games with his friends on a empty lot in Mt. Vernon and he 'watched me' get hit in the mouth by a baseball bat.  When we got home our mother said to him JOSEPH!!!  and a few other choice words.  I got back at him when we were wrestling one day on the living room floor and I put him in a submission hold and to this day he said I hurt his knee.  Oh well.  If it wasn't for him, I probably would not have been hired at IBM.  Although he never admitted it, I know he put in a good word for me.

I was so sorry to hear about your dad’s passing. I still remember your parents coming in to see you when we worked together, and how proud they were of you—especially when you were expecting the boys. Please know I’m thinking of you and your family during this difficult time, and I hope the memories you shared with him bring you comfort and peace.

So many things come to mind when you remember our dear Uncle Joe.  He was a model of what a loving husband and father should be.  Uncle Joe was a presence in our lives from the moment I became a member of the family.  He was always so helpful and supportive whenever we needed a hand.  We loved spending time at Aunt Diane and Uncle Joe's home.  Our family has many happy memories with Uncle Joe that we will be forever grateful for.

My condolences to Aunt Diane and my cousins Joe, Chris, Dana, Danny and families. Uncle Joe was such an instrumental figure in my life. He was always there for me whether it was carrying me out of Our Lady of Victory Church after I passed out as a little boy, getting me a summer internship at IBM, getting my car up and running after it would break down in front of his house when I would visit as a teen, or getting ahold of a van to drive the entire family down to my wedding reception in Queens. Whenever we would met we would always have a handshake test of strength and he would crush me every time. In short he taught me what a man, father, and husband should be. I miss and love him but I know I'll see him again in Heaven.

I worked with Joe at the North Carolina Department of Revenue. He hired me in 1994 and it was the best career move I ever made. What a joy it was to work for him and the team we had at the Department of Revenue. Joe really cared about people and he took care of those who worked for him. I have nothing but great memories and will cherish those always. Prayers for all the family. God bless.

I called my Uncle Joe, white socks. He always wore high white socks - before they became cool and on trend. Uncle Joe was like a grandfather to me. I loved coming down to North Carolina to stay with my aunt & uncle. He spoiled me. He drove me around, let me sleep in, he took Aunt Diane & I shopping and patiently waited while we took our sweet time in all the stores. We loved sitting on the deck together and just chatting about life. I remember being 25 and being so afraid I wouldn’t figure life out and find my purpose.  I vividly remember him putting his hand on mine and telling me, “well kid, you don’t have a choice. You’ll figure it out or it’ll figure you out.” I loved him so much. I am going to miss him so much. He was a rock for me.

The month I spent in Cary while I was moving to Nashville, TN. Uncle Joe drove me all around and hosted my friend Jess for a few days.

I will always remember Mr Tetro  with his warm smile always making everyone feel welcome in his home and like one of the family.. His kind manner will never be forgotten. May he rest now in peace.

I would like to extend my deepest condolences to my family as we mourn the passing of Joseph. He was a gentle soul and an outstanding man in the eyes of anyone who knew him. I will always remember the holidays spent with him and my grandmother as some of my fondest memories. Such a great man will forever be in our hearts as we live by his example. I did not know Joe Tetro Sr. personally as I didn’t have the opportunity to meet him. However I know the Tetro family and his son Joe Jr. and it honors me to know that the Tetro family comes from a place of love from the heart, unbound spirit, and a purpose of friendship that most people would envy. May Joe Sr rest in eternal peace knowing that a piece of our hearts go with him and he can never be replaced or forgotten.

What wonderful memories we treasure of Uncle Joe especially getting to spend time with him after he retired. We love and admire him for how he lived his life and the role model he was for everyone, always giving of himself for his family which was his treasure!  He was everyone’s rock. He will truly be missed.

Summer 2023 on Lake Hickory when Captain Joe commandeered the pontoon boat with our family.

Our hearts are heavy as we say goodbye to Uncle Joe. He always welcomed us all with open arms, gave great advice, and shared great and humorous stories. Death may end a life but never a relationship. Joe will continue to participate in your thoughts and decisions as he leaves an indelible imprint in your memories. Sincere condolences to the Tetro family.

I met Joe through his wife, Diane.  Diane and I worked together for many years and our families became quick friends.
I always admired the love Joe had for his wife and family. Joe had the biggest smile when he would talk about his children and grandchildren, there is nothing he wouldn't do for them. 
Joe loved little children.  Diane and I taught prek and Joe would get the biggest kick out of coming to our class and interacting with the kids. He knew what a gift from God that children are!
Joe will live on forever in his children and grandchildren and future great grandchildren because the unconditional love that he shared and the example he set will never die.
