Kathleen Frances Cavadi entered through heaven’s gates on Saturday, June 13, 2026, to be reunited with her treasured husband, Frank. Kathleen leaves behind a much-loved family, who are comforted knowing she is among the angels and saints resting in peace with Frank, her parents, brothers, dear friends, and family who have gone before her.
Kathleen was born in County Cavan, Ireland, to her beloved parents, James and Catherine McCabe, on November 9, 1935. She was blessed with three older brothers, Jack, James, and Robert, whom she was so proud of and adored immensely. Kathleen spent her earliest years in a place near and dear to her heart, Cassan Sound, St. John’s Point, County Donegal, Ireland. Kathleen grew up in St. Nicholas of Tolentine Parish in the Bronx, New York, where she was educated by the Dominican Sisters. After completing her primary education, she then graduated from Thorpe Business School in Manhattan.
Kathleen met the love of her life, Frank, at the Jersey Shore. He took one look at her from across the room and told his friend, “That’s the girl I am going to marry.” They married in October 1958 and spent 38 beautiful years together, and created a close-knit family with their children, Frank, Richard, Jacqueline, and Kathleen. Kathleen and Frank shared a beautiful love. They always said that “God destined us for one another.”
Kathleen left her much-loved Bronx to head to Buffalo, New York, and then to Salina Road, Pearl River, New York, where she created lifelong beautiful friendships. Frank’s work with Coty led Kathleen to Sanford, North Carolina, in 1971. Through Coty, St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, and Westlake Valley, Kathleen was blessed with cherished friends who became family. Westlake Valley introduced a love of tennis in her and her children. In 1983, Frank’s work with Coty and Pfizer brought her to Westport, Connecticut. She loved returning close to family and hosting them for holidays and summer gatherings. In fall 1996, Kathleen and Frank returned south to Cary, North Carolina, bringing more friends from Greensview Drive into her life.
Kathleen shared a great Catholic faith in God and instilled that faith in her children and grandchildren. She had deep devotion to the saints in heaven, especially St. Anthony, St. Jude, St. Francis, and Blessed Mary. With all her heart, Kathleen loved her family, Frank, Michelle, and Frank Nicholas Cavadi, Richard, Kathy, and Kyle Cavadi, Kathleen, FJ, FJ III, and Peter McCabe Cullen, and Jacqueline Cavadi. Kathleen adored each of her four children and believed they were her life’s greatest accomplishments. She loved hearing the daily updates of their lives, celebrating their achievements, and never tired of offering support and just a “bit” of advice. In 1997, the arrival of her first grandson, Kyle, was the gift that established her as Grams. Soon after, she was blessed with the arrival of FJ, Peter, and Frank Nicholas. She cherished being part of her grandsons’ lives, cheering them on in life, and creating special memories with each of them. Her greatest joy came from being surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Kathleen was blessed to have Nikkie Kelley in her life, brightening so many of her days. She had a special place in her heart for her many loyal canine companions, who loved her as deeply as she loved them.
