Kathy was born October 23, 1942 to the late Patrick and Matilda Monaghan in Buffalo, NY. Her family later moved to Lackawanna, NY where she attended Baker Victory High School. After graduation, she married the love of her life, Edmund Rost of Lackawanna, NY. They later bought a house in Hamburg, NY and raised their family there.
Kathy had a passion for art and attended college level classes. She painted, sketched and did crafts for enjoyment until her arthritis in her hands would no longer allow it. She loved doing ceramics and made countless beautiful pieces for family and friends.
When her children were grown, Kathy obtained her real estate license and sold homes in the Hamburg, NY area. She loved her new career and was very successful. She worked in the field until 1998 when she and Edmund made the move to Cary, NC.
Kathy loved hockey. She especially loved the Carolina Hurricanes. She could tell you all about each player, the line ups, the coaching – all of it! She never missed a game and loved to go the PSNC to watch them in person.
Kathy is predeceased by her husband, Edmund Rost and grandson, Eric Rost. She is survived by her son, Patrick and wife Jean Rost, her son Michael Rost, and grandchildren, Sean Rost and Kaelin Rost.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service followed by a celebration of life on 11/19/22 from 1:00 – 400 at Kathy’s home located at 200 Tawny Ridge Ln. in Cary.
Kathy’s favorite charity was Meals on Wheels. Donations may be made in her honor in lieu of flowers.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.BrownWynneCary.com for the Rost family.
