Kay was a graduate of the Freewill Baptist Bible College in Nashville, TN. In her early married years, she and her husband served as director of a children's home in Johnson City, IL, and later they served as youth pastor—years marked by steady devotion and a joyful willingness to pour into the lives of others.
For more than three decades, Kay served as an elementary teacher at Wake Christian Academy in Raleigh, NC, retiring with over 30 years of service. Her life’s work reflected a faithful commitment to children and learning, carried out with a spirit that uplifted those around her.
Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Carl David Hinz; and her son, Kyle Dwayne Hinz.
She is survived by her sons, Paul L. Hinz and John A. Hinz; her sister, Alice H. Sloan; and her grandchildren, Alison, Justin, and Kylie.
A sense of adventure stayed close to Kay throughout her life. She enjoyed visiting the beautiful coast-line of North Carolina, embracing the world with gratitude and delight.
Kay was a faithful and devoted member of Mid-Way Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC, where her steady presence and reverent commitment were a quiet strength to her church family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11am Wednesday, October 14, 2026 at Mid-Way Baptist Church, 6910 Fayetteville Road, Raleigh, NC 27603. The family will receive friends 10am - 11am prior to the service at the church.
