Born September 14, 1931, to Norwegian and Scottish immigrants, Leif and Agnes Booger (Nilsen). Leif was raised in Brooklyn, NY along with his sister June, who preceded him. The first of his family to attend college, he graduated from Union College in Schenectady, NY in 1956 with a degree in Economics.
Leif began his career as a salesman with IBM in Albany, NY. He worked his way up through the company becoming the Branch Manager in Scranton, PA as well as Hamden, CT. He ultimately lead the Grocery Software Development - Europe Division in London. After a very successful 40 year career with IBM, Leif founded Skill Based Consulting, based in Cary, NC.
Leif met the love of his life, Judith Marian Hines, in Brooklyn, NY and they were married in 1957. They settled in Wilton, CT where they raised their family in a home filled with love, laughter, and excitement. The family spent their summers at the Candlewood Lake Club (CLC) in New Milford, CT. Leif loved Candlewood Lake and often regaled family and friends with praise and tributes relating to the view of the lake from the Booger family deck. He enjoyed playing tennis, golf, fishing, and boating at CLC. However, his greatest joy was spending time at the lake with his children and grandchildren and sharing his passions with each of them.
At CLC he served as chair of the Tennis Committee and guided the expansion of the tennis facilities and program. He served for several years as the Treasurer on the CLC Board of Directors.
Leif was an avid traveler, antique collector, and car fanatic. Leif and Judy traveled extensively visiting several continents and many countries. Together they discovered new worlds and enthusiastically added to their antique collection.
Leif is survived by his wife of 60 years, Judith Marian Hines Booger, and their children, Lisa (Thomas) Torr of Lee, NH; Andrew (Tara) Booger of Raleigh, NC; Scott (Stephanie) Nilsen of Chapel Hill, NC; Peter (Whitney) Booger of Raleigh, NC; and 12 grandchildren: Katelyn, Michael, Christian, Catherine, Molly, Emma, Kai, Reese, Finn, Porter, Coda and Hudsen.
