Lilian Frances Sauerwein

CARY- Lilian F. Sauerwein, age 89, died September 9, 2016 at Glenaire Retirement Community in Cary. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, September 12, 2016 in the Auditorium at Glenaire. The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service. Burial will be at a later date in the family plot in Beallsville, Maryland.

Lilian was born April 25, 1927 in Washington DC to the late Charles and Elise Hounsom. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Sauerwein Jr., and sisters, Barbara Wiencek and Helen Herrick.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Sandy Sauerwein of Gaithersburg, Maryland; her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Tom Tallman of Apex, North Carolina; granddaughters, Amy Sauerwein, Robin Purdy and husband, Jason, Sharon Hershkowitz and husband, Mike, and Janice Tallman; and great-grandchildren, Elijah, Mackenzie, Addison, and Isaiah Purdy. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Marjorie Lam and husband, Lowell and MarieAnne Sauerwein.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to Transitions LifeCare (formerly Hospice of Wake County) 250 Hospice Circle Raleigh, NC 27607.
