Linda Carole Laskey, 85, died October 29, 2026. Linda was born February 22, 1941, in Watertown, NY, to the late Carroll Newberry Keeler and Louise Olive Angell Harter. She was a resident of Cary, North Carolina.
A graduate of SUNY Brockport University, Linda devoted her professional life to education. She began her career at St. Mary's Catholic School in Holley, NY where she taught English and Science. After moving to Cary, she taught English at West Cary Junior High/Middle School for the next 25 years. She made many lasting relationships with both staff and students through her love of her job and her ever present sense of humor. She especially loved teaching Greek Mythology, grammar and escorting groups of students to Europe. Always ready to practice what she preached, she was not above donning school colors for a game, a pumpkin costume for Halloween or a toga for the mythology unit.
Her personal life was dominated by her family, friends, travel and life at her beloved Point Peninsula, NY. She loved her family and extended family. Her kitchen was the heart of many lively gatherings, and her laugh was as loud and uninhibited as she was. She was the loudest Mom in the stands and the most fun at any wedding. Although not Polish, she embraced her husband Ed's family and culture and became an expert Pierogi maker, passing the skill down to the next two generations. Her grandchildren were the joys of her life. She was the biggest kid of all and raced them to see who could jump into Lake Ontario first after traveling 12 hrs from NC to the family cottage on Pt. Peninsula. She found love again when she met John and they embarked on years of travel together throughout Europe and North America, with Italy and trips to visit longtime friends in the Netherlands being among her favorites. They also spent summers together at Pt. Peninsula again entertaining friends and family.
Linda is survived by her husband, John Laskey; daughter, Laurie Bartnik Futrell (Robert); sons, David Angell Wilminko (Cynthia), Bryan Charles Bartnik (Jennifer); her grandchildren, Jordan Futrell, Connor Futrell, Noah Futrell, Benjamin Bartnik (Olivia), Cheryl Eccleston (Bobby), Rachel Bartnik, Madison Angell, Mackenzie Bartnik and Paige Bartnik Puckett (TJ), as well as her great grandchildren, Atlas Angell and Stetson Puckett; and finally, her two stepsons, Tom Laskey and John Laskey.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Bartnik, her mother Louise Angell Harter, her father Carrol Keeler, her son Alan Jon Bartnik and her sister, Dorothy (Dot) Parker.
The family will receive friends 4pm - 6pm Saturday, November 7, 2026, at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Rd., Cary, NC 27511.
