Rarely got to see Wayne more than once a year, but that once a year was the best time of year. We shared Christmas in the Boondocks! Somehow never knew he was a police officer before he was a firefighter. Rest easy Wayne. An honor to know you

Chief House served the citizens of Cary for decades with love and compassion. I had the honor of knowing him as fire chief during his final years before retirement. He touched so many lives including my own. I will always remember how he greeted me with a smile. Cary is a much better place because of Wayne House. My thoughts and prayers will continue to be with his family as we remember and celebrate his great life. Rest in Peace Chief!

Chief and I worked together his last five years at the Town of Cary, and I am so grateful to have had him in my life. I always knew where I stood with him, and, thankfully, most of the time that was in a very good place! :) Thanks to Chief's family for sharing so much of him with the rest of us. Best wishes.

It's hard to find words to sufficiently convey all that I feel when I think of Wayne House. He was a leader who was tough and unrelenting when it came to doing the right thing, but that's because he cared and wanted to provide the best in everything he did or directed. The word "half" wasn't part of Wayne's vocabulary; he was always "all-in" all the time. There are few people I looked forward to seeing as much as Wayne; his friendship, commentary and respect meant the world to me, and the occasions my wife and I got to enjoy visiting with him and Shirley together are treasured moments. I will always look to Wayne's example as the true embodiment of the qualities of strength, fortitude, loyalty, and confidence; and that the best way to live life is 100% engaged, fully committed, honest and true as an arrow.
