Maria Johanna Christ Glover

Maria C. Glover passed away on April 3, 2021, surrounded by her family at Wake Med Cary, NC.

Maria joined her husband Richard L Glover in heaven who predeceased her on December 11, 2001.

She is survived by her brother Hans Christ and wife Irmgard of Starnberg, Germany, sister Rosa Bauer of Munich, Germany, son Rick Glover and wife Betsy of Wilmington, NC , daughter Barbara Mangum and husband Steve of Cary, NC, grandsons Kevin Mangum of Cary, NC, Brian Mangum and wife Rachel of Holly Springs, NC, Shelly Tanner and husband Ryan, great grandson Carter Tanner of Wilmington, NC.

Maria was born in Munich, Germany daughter to Johann and Rosina Christ on December 5, 1927. She enjoyed a wonderful childhood interrupted only by the outbreak of WWII in 1939. She met her husband to be at the end of the war in Garmisch, Germany when he was a member of the US Armed Forces, and Maria was called upon as an interpreter. They fell in love and were married in Munich in 1948.

They moved to the United States where Richard completed his education at UNC-CH under the GI Bill and heroic support from Maria.

They subsequently moved back to Germany in 1954 where Richard was offered a job with the US government which lasted until his Retirment in 1977. Upon moving back to Cary, NC Richard and Maria purchased Triangle Equipment Co. with their daughter Barbara and husband Steve Mangum and it’s still in operation today.

Maria was a devoted Roman Catholic and supported many charities and was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church in Apex, NC.

Funeral services will be held at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Apex, NC on Thursday, April 8, 2021. Visitation will be from 11am-12 noon. Followed by a Mass at noon. A grave side service will be held at Salem Baptist Church in Apex, NC immediately following the funeral service.

We all loved Marina. She was loving and wise and she lived her faith. We shared many confidences in our morning strolls for at least 30 years. I will miss her so very much and my prayers are with her family. Her friendship was a gift,

She was the most kind and sweet person. We always enjoyed our time together. I recall our cruise together and a lovely time at her brother’s Hans house in Munich with a wonderful family dinner. She is missed.
