Marjorie Ruth Whitehurst Russell

Marjorie Ruth Whitehurst Russell, 83, died Thursday, October 10, 2013 in Cary. She was born in Bethel, NC on December 2, 1929 to Johnson Voyd and Thelma Athelene Harris Whitehurst. She was retired from North Carolina State University. Many in Cary will remember her as the secretary to the principal of Cary Elementary and Junior High School.

She is survived by her husband Forrest and their children, Kevin and his wife Joy, Michael and his wife Amy, and Johnson and his wife Keturah; by grandchildren Steven and his fiancée Brittany Anderson and daughter Brooke, David, Ben and his fiancée Samantha Filipowski, Nancy, Mary Elizabeth, Morgann, and Tallis.

Marjorie is survived by her sister Elsie Garland and her husband Herb, brother Bob Whitehurst and his wife Sheila, brother Ben Whitehurst and his wife Michael, and by Claire Whitehurst, the wife of her brother Lindsay. She is also survived by her husband Forrest’s sister Sallie Lohman, sister Doris Parker and her husband Bill, and brother Frank Russell and his wife Joan. Marjorie has two nieces and thirteen nephews.

In addition to her parents, Marjorie was preceded in death by her brother Lindsay Whitehurst.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 14, 2013 at Westwood Baptist Church, 200 Westhigh Street, Cary, NC 27513. Burial will follow at Brier Creek Memorial Gardens, 7600 ACC Boulevard, Raleigh, NC 27617.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 S.E. Maynard Road, Cary, NC 27511.
