Marjorie Clarice Norem Wittschen

Marjorie Clarice Norem “Marge” Wittschen, 100, of Apex, NC died June 27, 2018 at Avendelle Assisted Living at Weaver Crossing. She was the loving wife of the late George A. Wittschen for 62 years.

Born December 19, 1917 in Somonauk, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Otto Martin Norem and Harriet Buckardt Norem. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Russell Norem, Pauline Norem Pattyson, Vivian Norem, and Otto Norem, Jr.

Marge leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Sarah Ann Englander, and husband Robert Arthur Englander, Jr. of Cary, NC; a granddaughter, Dora Leigh Collins, and husband John Collins of Apex, NC; a grandson, Robert Arthur Englander III, and wife Kathryn Englander of Fuquay-Varina, NC; great-grandchildren Tyler Collins, Kayleigh Collins, Macy Collins, Grace Englander, and William Englander; a sister-in-law, Carol Norem of Rockford, IL; a niece Julie Hawley, and husband Rob Hawley of Taos, NM; two nephews: Gary Norem, and wife Joan Norem of Mesa, AZ; and Dr. Dennis Norem, and wife Julia Norem of Rockford, IL.

Marge had a zest for life and pep in her step. Until recently, she was strong in both body and mind, always ready to talk about her extensive travels or current events. She enjoyed playing bridge and logged hundreds of volunteer hours with the Red Cross and as a Pink Lady at Virginia Baptist Hospital in Lynchburg, VA. She loved music, dancing, and the company of family and friends. Beloved by all who knew her, she carried herself with the poise and class that characterized the generation from which she came.

A private inurnment will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Lynchburg, VA at a future date.
