Mary June Quinn

Mary was born on June 11, 1936 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to John Earl O’Brien and Julia Anna Furis O’Brien. Mary met her husband of 61 years, John “Jack” William Quinn at the wedding of mutual friends and they married a year later, August 3, 1957.

In 1979, Jack and Mary moved to California for a work opportunity. 1990 brought Jack and Mary to Cary, North Carolina to be closer to their daughter and her family. Jack and Mary traveled throughout California and the East Coast.

In 2012 they both fulfilled a lifelong dream by travelling to Ireland and visiting Jack’s ancestral home. Mary enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandsons Sean and Matthew and meeting up with her friends at Cary Towne Center.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband John William Quinn, daughter Deborah Quinn, son Daniel Quinn and brother Richard O’Brien.

She is survived by her daughter Colleen Michelle Waters, husband Phillip Waters, and grandson Matthew Quinn Waters, all of Durham, NC; grandson Sean William Waters of Alexandria, VA; brother Jack O’Brien of Pittsburgh, PA; nephew James O’Brien and his wife Brooke O’Brien of Fuquay Varina, NC.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of WakeMed Cary Hospital for their compassion and outstanding care Mary received.

Due to COVID 19, there will be no public funeral or visitation.

A celebration of life is anticipated in summer 2021.
