
Michael was born on November 4th, 1960 in San Diego, CA to Elizabeth Therese Luther, and the late William Martin Luther. He graduated with high honors from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and a minor in Computer Science and an MBA with high honors at SMU in Texas. Michael was currently pursuing his PhD.
Michael is survived by his mother, Elizabeth, his sisters, Jean, Susan and Ann, his brother-in-law’s, Gary and Greg and ten nieces and nephews. He was very proud of his nieces and nephews and he enjoyed hearing about their educational pursuits, hopes and dreams. Michael would frequently ask them difficult mathematical and scientific questions to test their knowledge. He’ll be deeply missed by his family, friends, neighbors and all those who knew him.
Michael was a beloved son, brother, uncle and friend. He was an avid sportsman and a brilliant scholar. He was best known for his sense of humor and his compassion for others; he ended all emails with the word “Smile” and a smiley face. Michael will be remembered for his love of art, astronomy, history, science and technology. He was extremely well read and enjoyed building things, gardening, working on his aquariums and sports. One of his favorite places to visit was the Colorado Mountains.
A memorial mass will be held on Friday, April 13th, 2018 at 10:00 am, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 804 High House Rd, Cary, NC 27513.
