

Dr. Langebeck was a long-time resident of Blacksburg, VA and most recently lived in Williamsburg, VA and Cary, NC. He was born on July 16, 1933 in Bogotá, Colombia and a graduate of Colegio Agustiniano (B.S.) and Pontifical University Javeriana, Faculty of Medicine (M.D.).
He was Board Certified in Clinical Pathology & Anatomic Pathology and held residencies with Maryview Medical Center, Central State, Doctors Hospital of DC, and Sentara Norfolk. Miguel was the first pathologist for Montgomery Regional Hospital in Blacksburg, VA, where he served for 36 years (1971-2007). He was a charter member of the medical staff, chair of several committees, director of Continuing Medical Education, and team leader and inspector for the College of American Pathologist. He also served Radford Community Hospital, Giles Memorial Hospital, Summers County ARH, Pocahontas Memorial Hospital, and as an adjunct professor at Virginia Tech (VCOM).
Miguel will be remembered as a gentleman as well as his generosity, funny jokes, and quick “dink” shot in tennis. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Irma Cecilia Langebeck; his children, Michael Langebeck, Mimi Stapleton, Karen Langebeck and Amy Wagner, James and Megan Langebeck; his grandchildren Cedric Stapleton, Chloe Stapleton, Cecilia Stapleton, Evan Langebeck, and Emma Langebeck. He is preceded in death by his son Shelby Langebeck.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 2:00 pm at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Cary, NC.
