Nancy Nadene Dearmon DeJarnette, born March 6, 1936 to Vance and Emma Dearmon in Lenoir, North Carolina, died peacefully on September 10, 2021 after a prolonged illness. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Fred DeJarnette; daughters, Dr. Lisa DeJarnette and Denise Miller; grandchildren, Ryan and Lara Beckwith; great grandchildren, Madison and Noah; and siblings and their spouses: Renae and Horst van Schellenbeck and Bobbie and Jerry Dearmon.
She grew up in a family of 6 children in Portsmouth, Virginia. She was happily married to Fred DeJarnette, the love of her life for 69 years, to whom she devoted her loving support as he prospered in his career as Chairman of Aerospace at NC State University. They continually hosted ceremonies, parties and receptions with visiting physics' students and faculty from all over the world who often stayed at their home sharing their joys, world views and lives late into many wonderful evenings. She celebrated a rich life, enjoying fun while living and traveling in Egypt, Europe, Japan and Portugal. Winters were often spent in Lake Tahoe with one of her best friends, Denise Lalor.
Many thanks to the staff of Brittany Place at Searstone in Cary, North Carolina, Hospice, Wisdom Senior Care, A Family Friend, Dr. Fisher with Doctors Making House Calls and the many other doctors too numerous to mention, but truly appreciated. Although there will be no formal reception or service at this time, we are grateful for your thoughts and prayers for Nadene and her family.
